Home cooking, served family-style…and don’t forget the meringue pies (or to stand and dance when the Hokey Pokey is played on the jukebox). This family-friendly restaurant is more than fried chicken and chicken fried steak– there’s also catfish, pot roast, and home style veggies!

Babe’s is a family restaurant with a casual atmosphere that’s a fun place for the family. The kids (and kids-at-heart) are invited to join the waitstaff when the Hokey Pokey or Chicken Dance fires up on the jukebox.

The food is served family-style. They’ll bring the salad in a big bowl, and everyone shares. Same thing with the veggies. Not everyone has to choose the same meat selection…the price is the same whether you choose the chicken or pot roast or catfish, etc.

Prices are: $11.99 (all meals, includes one main dish plus all the veggies/breads); $6.49 for veggies only. Kids’ Meals are $3.99.

Here are the menu selections:

Main Dishes — Fried Chicken (my husband’s favorite); Chicken Fried Steak; Fried Chicken Tenders; Smoked Chicken; Fried Catfish (my dad’s favorite); Pot Roast (my favorite).

Veggies/Breads — Mashed Potatoes w/cream gravy; Green Beans; Grandma’s Corn (more of a “cream corn” than regular kernel corn); Green Salad; Homemade Biscuits.

Desserts – Coconut Meringue Pie; Lemon Meringue Pie; Chocolate Meringue Pie; Banana Pudding; Pineapple Upside-Down Cake; Sugar-Free Apple Cobbler.

The Kids’ Menu is only $3.99 (plus tax) and includes the choices on the adult menu except chicken fried steak. If you choose the other options, the kids’ portion is a fried leg, a smoked leg, 3 fried tenders, 3 ounces of pot roast, or 1 catfish filet.

Babe’s also caters (buffet style or boxed-lunches) with a $200 minimum if you want it delivered. Please book at least two days in advance. For more information, contact catering manager Amy Arnold at 817-705-5345.

Babe’s is located on the northern edge of downtown Arlington, next to Arlington Music Hall. The physical address is 230 N. Center Street (southwest corner of Center at Division, three blocks west of Collins).
